Looking for something to tickle the tastebuds this Spring Long Weekend?

NSW Great Lakes Food Trail returns for its Spring event on Sunday 1 October. Discover the Mid North Coast region’s finest producers along a trail through rolling green hills and with stunning lakeside views. Visit a variety of local farms, wineries and cafes, take an educational tour and enjoy tasting experiences along the way.

3.5 hours north of Sydney, the Great Lakes – Myall Lake, Smiths Lake and Wallis Lake - is already known for its pristine waterways and beaches, but its best-kept secret is its outstanding fresh food produce. On Sunday 1 October from 10am to 4pm, a group of likeminded producers are opening their properties to the public for The Great Lakes Food Trail.

Visitors will get to taste local organic water buffalo mozzarella at the outstanding Burraduc Buffalo Farm and enjoy locally sourced and produced gourmet meals at the cafes on the trail. The kids will love hand feeding lambs at Lucy Land Merino Farm at Bulahdelah and collecting eggs from free ranging chickens at Topi Open Range Farm.

Taste the region’s artisan cheeses, honey, seasonal fruit and vegetables sourdough, oysters, wines and craft brews. Learn about the principles of ethical farming, straight from the producers themselves, who pride themselves in the humane production of wholesome food.

Co-Cordinator of The Great Lakes Food Trail and owner of the Topi Open Range farm, Sue Williams said, “We are so excited to present the results of our hard work to locals and visitors to the Great Lakes region. Whether its fresh and ethically grown produce, sweet treats, fine wines and beverages or other bounties of the region, The Great Lakes Food Trail is showcasing the best we have to offer and is contributing to sustainable economic and tourism growth for the area.”

With two previous Great Lakes Food Trails being held in April and June this year, the Spring Trail has grown to include a range of participants along a route from Bulahdelah to Wootton, across the range to Bungwahl and finishing at Blueys Beach, with eleven unique stops along the way.

A list of all participants in the Spring Food Trail are detailed in the brochure below or on on the website.
